Description
Phulkari in its literal sense means working with flowers. Initially mentioned in the Punjabi Folklore “Heer & Ranjha,” the art at first was only restricted to handloom, with floral motifs festooning women’s clothing through ages. To take the folk embroidery of Punjab to the next level and fuse it with our imagination, we performed the art of flowering on wood to bring you a hand-painted genius your space will be remembered for.
Phulkari was also a popular pastime of the women gathered around in the verandahs of their households, translating the flavors of their sweet lullabies and honeyed discourse onto the threads on golden wintry afternoons.
The Phulkari luxury tables are inspired by the very art, references of which can even be found in the epic Vedas, Mahabharata, and even the Guru Granth Sahib.
The art almost comes across as a rhythmic continuum for how it has been played along with the shape of the wood. The hollowed center of the wood has been filled with resin onto which goes the art. The artwork on the art deco coffee table has meticulously been done in 3 layers of resin, with all the layers hand-painted.
The wood and the artwork have been preserved and protected with epoxy resin, which is later buffed for shine. As a finishing touch, a layer of oil is added to the top for protection against scratches and the durability of the product.
IMPORTANT – This table is one of its kind and cannot be recreated. We here at Aadhya make hand-painted tables and share an authenticity certificate with our products to ensure originality.
